Hi, long time no post. How you been doing? Whatcha been up to? I’ve been good, just got done with school for the semester. School went well all things considered, and now it’s summer.
To be perfectly honest, I’ve been having a rough time recently This year, so-far, in general has been a rough one for me. And I would have even said that before Friday, March 13, but it hasn’t gotten that much better since then. I know everyone feels like their plans and lives have been turned upside and down and shook. But yeah, everything is topsy turvy and not really going how I want it, let ago according to plan.
Everything has been cancelled and or closed. I still have some hope, that some things that I had planned for this summer may still happen. But I am also trying to come to term with the fact that they may not happen, and that I need to wrap my head around that. And it sucks.
Onto happier stuff. As I have entered into a distraction free quarantine, I have been going stir crazy. Seriously, by the time you’re reading this it will have been a week but without school it feels like 95 years. Throughout the semester, the school year and through out life, I find my heart and mind being pulled into places that I generally just do not have time for.
So, that how I am going to be filling my time. I am going to writing, recording, arranging, singing, painting, editing and overall just playing around. I love creating, and I love sharing. Right now I don’t have the normal pressures and time commitments. Meaning that it really is now, or never. Right?
What exactly does this mean? By the end of the summer you are going to want to tell me to shut up. I am going to be posting on here weekly, and with any luck I am going to be batch writing posts so next semester I won’t have to go M.I.A…. hopefully. If haven’t already subscribed to my newsletter, you should do that. It’s free! I am going to start sending those out on Sundays talking about what happened the week before and what you all can look forward to in the week ahead.
I am going to be updating and changing up some social media things. From now on there is going to be a dedicated Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for Serena K *gestures broadly*. If you want a behind the scene look at the blog, my music, my writing, my art, my photography or my YouTube those will be the places for you. Those profiles have been created, but they are no where near done, and I will be putting them in the header bar as soon as I finish this post.
My YouTube channels are going to start getting some attention here real soon. If you don’t know, and I don’t know how you would, I have two. One called Serena K, I am hoping to start regularly posting cover videos, and information about my musical endeavors on this summer. My second channel is called Guitar Picks and Lipstick, I am hoping to start regularly posting “musical lifestyle” content on there this summer. I am not exactly sure what that means, and or what it will look like yet, but stay tuned and we can find out together!
I don’t have a ton of answers about what all of this going to look like. My only real hope is that by the end of the summer I will have finally finished my first album, and that I will continue making progress on my first book. And yes I want to start pursuing my daydreams of being an “influencer”.
In terms of the blog, I am planning on updating a few little things here and there. Probably nothing major, the most drastic thing maybe a theme change or heck, maybe I’ll add ads. I am hoping to play around with some Search Engine Optimization, whether or not that will be successful… who knows.
At the start of the semester, and the year, my plans for this summer looked completely different than my current reality. But I am starting to adjust to it all and, maybe even getting excited about being able to look back on this summer, as a turning point.
